Our Values

At United Justice our five values guide everything we do.

We Believe Humanity Matters

We strive to create programs that effectively serve women and children that are marginalized and systematically oppressed. To us this means that regardless of their socioeconomic or historical background we believe they matter. Working in Latin America where women and children oftentimes do not experience equality we make it a priority that they understand how much they matter to us.

Showing up for Survivors and those at Risk is the most Important thing we can do

While effective programs are essential, we believe an authentic relationship is the bridge that allows survivors to access the opportunities programs provide. Our team at UJ and those we serve thrives in personal connection and relationship with each other. While fighting sex trafficking can sometimes feel complicated and overwhelming we value to simple act of simply showing up for survivors and those at risk is important.

Developing Communities is our Standard.

Most of the vulnerable women and children live in communities that have several reasons they are high risk communities. We believe that using a holistic approach to fight sex trafficking includes developing communites so that the women and children are educated and equipped with the tools and economic resources they need to not be vulnerable to sex traffickers. Developing communities requires collaboration and partnerships across communities to unite the work in creating safer communities.

Meeting the Need is the Start

We believe in the importance of meeting immediate needsthat create vulnerability, however, that is just the beginning. Creating lasting relationships andaccess to effective exit service programs are the goals. The lack of basic needs puts manywomen and children at risk to sex traffickers. Meeting this need reduces that risk but we take it astep further to work to empower them to become self-sufficient in the future.

Survivor Voices are Essential to the Success of our Organization.

We are a survivor founded and led organization. We believe our success lies in the lived experiences of survivors and they hold the key to the transformation of other victims. We not only value their voice and contribution to all that we do, but we also consider it the very foundation of what we stand on. We create opportunities for survivor leadership within the organization but we also create opportunities for them to thrive in other spheres of influence and always take their privacy seriously. Their stories always belong to them, never to us. If they choose to share their stories we offer them the training to understand specific dynamic survivors often face when sharing publicly.
